The Spruce Goose

Later that day we went to the museum where they keep Howard Hughes most famous plane: the H-4 Hercules, a.k.a. the Spruce Goose. It was unreal. This plane is enormous, made of wood and truly a wonder to look at. It's so damn big, that most of the pictures we took of it, you can only see bits of it. Thankfully, they have other really cool things so there's more to show you:

Fine aeronautic engineering:

The airplane Indiana Jones hitched a ride to India in:

... something:

Here I am standing in front of another something:

A close up shot of yet another very interesting something... wait, i think it's actually the same something:

This I know, it's a plane of some kind:

This is great, Brock took this of a maquette illustrating the building of the Spruce Goose. Looks real!

Brock and a fraction of the Spruce Goose:

The innards of the Spruce Goose:

The one place where one can actually take most of the plane in, 2nd story of the gift shop:

Me thinks his measuring stick might be off:

Posing for the camera:

I like this one Brock took:

This is the outside of the house the wooden bird sleeps in:
Soon after this, my in laws made their way home and we drove back north. We'll see them again for Christmas!
